RESOURCE CENTER - Portland, Oregon USA

Portland, Oregon:

Portland is a city located in the Northwestern United States, near the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia rivers in the state of Oregon. As of July 2008, it has an estimated population of 557,706 making it the 29th most populous in the United States.[5] It has been referred to as the most environmentally friendly or "green" city in the United States, and the 2nd most in the world.[6] Portland is Oregon's most populous city, and the third most populous city in the Pacific Northwest, after Vancouver, British Columbia, and Seattle, Washington. Approximately two million people live in the Portland metropolitan area (MSA), the 23rd most populous in the United States as of July 2006.[7]

Portland was incorporated in 1851 and is the county seat of Multnomah County.[8] The city extends slightly into Washington County to the west and Clackamas County to the south. It is governed by a commission-based government headed by a mayor and four other commissioners. The city and region are noted for strong land-use planning[9] and investment in light rail, supported by Metro, a distinctive regional-government. Portland is known for its large number of microbreweries and microdistilleries, and its coffee fanaticism. It is also the home of the Trail Blazers NBA team. Portland lies in the Marine west coast climate region, marked by warm, dry summers and rainy but temperate winters. This climate is ideal for growing roses, and for more than a century, Portland has been known as "The City of Roses"[10][11] with many rose gardens—most prominently the International Rose Test Garden. Establishing A Portland Resource Center:

For those of you living in Portland I began building the Cascadian Resource Center fifteen years ago throughout the Pacific Northwest including founding the first time-dollar based alternative currency system - the Cascadia HOUR. I'd like to begin this resource center project again with your help, support and passionate cooperation with a particular focus on the metropolitan Portland area.

Take a look at what we've built in our hometown of Ashland, Oregon with the Ashland Resource Center.

For the last three years we've built a "Resource Center 3.0" platform and business model to support the local and regional development of resource centers for communications and networking, interdependence and economic self–reliance, and we'd like to offer this to the entire Portland area community and the Pacific Northwest.

In many important ways this platform is more advanced than Facebook and is focused on building and strengthening community locally. But we don't have the market capitalization of Facebook so we'll require our members and sponsors to put up the capital in small bites to afford to deploy this ASAP. There is no time more critical than now!

What's Next?

So we're looking for the first twelve "Associate" members ($48/month), the first 24 "Business" members ($24/month) and the first 100 "Community" members ($12/month) to make this feasible ASAP.

If we can get enough commitments we'll come back in three months and facilitate the Portland Resource Center development and turn it over to a local ORGANIZING TEAM to operate.

That's our current vision and proposal for building and deploying these worldwide. Become a member today!

Walk on water (Liquid Mountaineering) | YouTube

Liquid Mountaineering is a new sport which is attempting to achieve what man has tried to do for centuries: walk on water. Or to be more precise: running on water. We are developing the sport from scratch. By accident we found out that with the right water repellent equipment you can run across bodies of water, just like a stone skimming the surface.

The Herb Shed: Native Forest Remedies - Classes

Native aromatherapy is what I do and have done since Sage, Cedar, and Sweetgrass were first smudged over me, and since I crawled into the Inipi (sweat lodge) and I received help from Bear Root when it was in the water and burned on the grandfathers (stones). I knew not everyone would have the opportunity of experiencing the healing powers of herbs and their essences this way. In 1994 I created some extractions with our native herbs and trees; I went to my grandfather and he took me into ceremony. Afterwards my grandfather smelled the preparations and he said, “Aah, you captured the angels, make a big bucket!” I understood this as a “yes” you have permission to share this knowledge and these remedies.

Reality the Great Illusion - Running from the Matrix with Sonia Barrett | Spirit In Form

This is an introductory workshop for those feeling trapped in their daily reality ran by “survival”. Introductory meaning… an insight into the traps installed in your mind on an individual level. It’s an opportunity to shed light on that which seems to cement you to that feeling of being “stuck”. That feeling is most often felt in ones job, career, relationships, residence and spiritual awareness.

Reinventing Fire | YouTube

Energy-related economic, security, and environmental threats are intensifying the national conversation about how to regain energy leadership and competitiveness, restore jobs and prosperity, and build a secure and climate-safe energy system. Yet America lacks a comprehensive vision of how a market economy can achieve these transformational goals. RMI has that vision, and is now building its detailed roadmap, which we call Reinventing Fire™. This strategy will bring together RMIs 28 years of innovation and engage the world in our most ambitious and important work yet—using whole-system thinking and integrative design to move the U.S. off fossil fuels by 2050, led by business for profit.
